These durable, plastic luminaries feature classic designs, suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Our patriotic luminary is inspired by Amish barn stars. In the early 1700s Amish immigrants brought with them the tradition of painting colorful geometric patterns on their barns. Among them, the star design was believed to bring good luck to farmers. After the Civil War, barn stars were considered patriotic, and their popularity spread. In the early 1930s, artists began to craft the stars in metal as art pieces that farmers could purchase and hang on their homes and outbuildings.
